Gerrit Heyneke

Gerrit is an Associate Director in Baker Tilly Channel Islands’ Assurance and Advisory department, based in the Jersey office.

Since joining the firm in 2022, he has quickly progressed through the ranks, having earned two promotions in recognition of his hard work, leadership, and commitment to delivering exceptional client service. 

A Chartered Accountant and member of the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA), Gerrit graduated from Stellenbosch University in 2015 and completed his articles in 2018. Prior to relocating to Jersey, he worked at one of the ‘Big 4’ accountancy firms, focusing on private funds investing across private equity, listed equity, and real estate. 

Gerrit has diverse experience with clients reporting under IFRS, IFRS for SME's, UK GAAP and US GAAP in different sectors including; cryptocurrency, agriculture, manufacturing, technology, real estate development, retail and Financial Services (including Private equity, Capital markets, Fund administration and Investment management). 

Gerrit is a driving force behind the firm’s Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) initiatives. His passion for sustainability and responsible business practices is backed by his completion of the ESG Specialisation from the Corporate Finance Institute. Gerrit is dedicated to helping clients navigate the complexities of ESG reporting and compliance while identifying opportunities to integrate sustainable practices into their operations for long-term success. 

Outside of work, Gerrit enjoys reading, golf, and learning new computer skills.
