Sandy Cameron
Relocating from Scotland to Jersey in 2013, Sandy, a qualified accountant from Baker Tilly, embarked on a noteworthy career journey.
After a stint with one of the 'Big 4' accountancy firms, he returned to Baker Tilly in the Channel Islands in 2019. A 2008 graduate of Glasgow Caledonian University, Sandy is a distinguished member of the Institute of Scottish Accountants (ICAS), achieving all first-time passes in the exams completed in 2012.
Diversifying his skill set, Sandy pursued courses in project management, obtaining completion certification for both Agile Project Management and Certified Scrum Master in 2018.
Sandy furthered his skill set by undertaking a CFI course in Financial Modelling and Valuation Analyst and become a Baker Tilly valuation specialist. This enables Sandy to understand the detail of how a valuation is built and leads to relevant and challenging conversations with Investment Managers during an audit process, as well as being able to offer services in valuation reviews.
Currently serving as a Client Director, and Company shareholder, Sandy collaborates closely with the Channel Islands team to ensure the seamless operation of Assurance and Accountancy practices to meet clients’ needs. Taking on the role of project manager, he oversees a varied client portfolio in the fiduciary, investment management, and charity sectors, extending his services to both Guernsey and Jersey.
Sandy's extensive expertise encompasses clients reporting under UK GAAP and IFRS across diverse sectors, including financial services (private equity, debt, real estate, investment management, infrastructure, fund administration, and banking), manufacturing, technology, housing associations, public sector/donor-funded charities and schools, and agriculture. His advisory experience includes agreed-upon procedures, akin to forensic investigations, historical verification, and vendor due diligence in the Channel Islands. Additionally, Sandy conducts internal control audits.
Sandy underwent a year long, new initiative, Leadership Programme with the Oxford Saïd Business School which he successfully completed in April 2024.
Beyond his professional commitments, Sandy values a work-life balance, cherishing moments with his wife and growing family. An advocate of physical fitness, he enjoys playing golf and keeps his football passion alive through 5-a-side games.
